The Amici di Fontanarossa Association invites you to explore our village situated within the stunning scenery of Trebbia Valley while navigating through history, tales, and images.

Located in the Ligurian Apennines, just 60 kilometres from Genoa and 150 kilometres from Milan, Fontanarossa is a picturesque village in the Gorreto municipality (Genoa) at 950 metres above sea level. It enjoys a privileged position on the northern face of the majestic Monte Cavalla, standing tall at 1327 metres.
The village is a crossing of routes coming from Alpe, Varni, Fascia and Gorreto, and a meeting point that once made it an active trading hub. The stunning valley embracing it serves as a vital geographic crossroads, facilitating the convergence of three distinct Italian regions: Piedmont, Liguria, and Emilia, where the provinces of Alessandria, Genoa, and Piacenza meet along the foothills.
Our website aims to promote this area, which, like many others in Trebbia Valley, is experiencing a gradual depopulation caused by both migration to the cities and a stagnant birth rate over the years.
This phenomenon also affects the splendid landscape around the village. Meadows and woods that once made Fontanarossa on par with Trentino are today tended by only a few brave and willing people who work hard to care for nature. The very same nature that is now returning to its untamed state, overgrowing paths and transforming the beautiful countryside into wilderness.
