Fontanarossa, beautiful village in the Trebbia Valley (on the
Appennino Ligure) is a hamlet of the Commune of Gorreto (GE)
and is around 60 Kms from Genoa and 150 Kms from Milan.
It has an height of 950 meters above sea level and lies in a
good position on the Northern slope of the Mare Mountain (1327
meters).
The country is the crossing of routes coming from Alpe, Varni,
Fascia and Gorreto and therefore is a meeting point which in
the past made Fontanarossa an active trade point.
The valley is exciting and very interesting from a geographical
point of view, since here three regions (Piedmont, Liguria,
Emilia) cross in the provinces of Alessandria, Genoa and Piacenza.
This web site tries to introduce this place that, as a lot of
others villages in the Trebbia Valley, suffers a progressive
depopulation caused both by the emigration towards the towns
and by a birth-rate zero.
This also influences the wonderful landscape round the village:
lawns and woods that once compared Fontanarossa to the Trentino
are today worked only by few brave and willing people, that
do all possible to help nature which is now becoming wild, closing
paths and ruining lawns and marvellous woods.
